"Celtic Mystical Journeys tours are excellent! Finbarr, and his sites, are magical, inspirational and moving. The 2007 sacred tour to Ireland and England were handled professionally, with integrity. The accommodations and services were well prepared in advance and everything was smoothly run. I was deeply moved in these sacred sites, fully enjoyed the experiences and would recommend any of Finbarr's tours."
— Sharon Hooper, Business and Life Coach, Sedona, AZ

"Misa has an amazing ability to support others on their spiritual journey. She offers deep insights, helping a person see things in new ways. She sees the potential in all of us and gently nudges us to find our own path, our own answers, and our own gifts that we have come here to share. And through the journey she has a way of holding us in love and compassion, where we feel safe and supported."
— Ixchel Tucker, Concord, CA and Tepoztlan, Mexico

Travel gets you out of your comfort zone, into new worlds and new realities.

Sacred Travel takes you to places that have been considered sacred by people of times past. These are special places on the Earth where they have come for ceremony and ritual, healing and rejuvenation.

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
— St. Augustine

"There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign."
— Robert Louis Stevenson

"When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego and when we escape like the squirrels in the cage of our personality and get into the forest again, we shall shiver with cold and fright. But things will happen to us so that we don’t know ourselves. Cool, unlying life will rush in."
— D.H. Lawrence

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
— Mark Twain

"Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living."
— Miriam Beard

"All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware."
— Martin Buber

"We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open."
— Jawaharial Nehru

"Tourists don’t know where they’ve been, travelers don’t know where they’re going."
— Paul Theroux

"To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted."
— Bill Bryson

"Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quiestest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey."
— Pat Conroy

"Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends."
— Maya Angelou

"Adventure is a path. Real adventure - self-determined, self-motivated, often risky - forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind - and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white."
— Mark Jenkins

Spirit Quest

September 8—20, 2009 (13 days)

A spiritual journey where we experience Mary Magdalene, the legends of the Holy Family, the Black Madonna, The Holy Grail, Cathars, Knights Templar and Troubadours!

Visit the sacred power sites of Rennes-le Chateau, Grotte de Baume, Maries de La Mer, Arles, Avignon, Carcassonne, Montsequr, Albi, the mystical Languedoc, the stunningly beautiful Chartres Cathedral, and Paris.

Finbarr Ross and Reverend Misa will take you on this life-changing tour through the sacred sites of France. Finbarr is a facilitator on Mary Magdalene and the Grail legends and has been organizing sacred tours since 1994. Reverend Misa teaches an ancient Native pathway for awakening the Sacred Feminine through the element of water and the dark, yet powerful vessel of the womb.

Our Trip Itinerary

This journey will explore the Sacred Feminine and its expression in the world, while also delving into the sacred feminine inside of each of us. It is for both men and women who wish to connect with and heal the feminine aspects of themselves, while healing and bringing into balance the sacred feminine in the world.

On our tour we will visit sites used by spiritual people of ages gone by, participate in powerful rituals and ceremonies, share in community with evening talking circles, and connect with the ancient energies and wisdom of these sacred sites.

Some of the places we will visit include:

Day 1 — Tuesday, Sep 8
Grotte de la St. Baume. The cave where the Magdalene is said to have passed the last years of her life and written her memoirs. This mountain was sacred to Isis and is considered holy ground. The natural water that accumulates here is believed to have curative powers.
St. Maxim Basilica. View the crypt and relics of Mary Magdalene.

Day 2 — Wednesday, Sep 9
Walk around Arles, with its wonderful monuments of the highly developed Roman Empire. You visit St. Trophimus Church, starting point of the journey to St. James in Compostela. There was also a major Templar stronghold here.
Tour the magical village of Saintes Maries de La Mer, where we will visit the church associated with arrival of the Grail Family from Palestine and to see the most beautiful and powerful 'Black Madonna', revered by the Gypsies of Europe as St. Sarah.

Day 3 — Thurs, Sep 10
Experience Avignon, ancient city of Cathars and Popes, watched over by a Black Virgin. Includes the 12th century Cathedral of Notre Dame de Doms, 14th century Papal palace and city ramparts. The Celts association with Avignon go back to Neolithic times. Their sacred ceremonial site was where the Rhone and Durance rivers merge.

Day 4 — Fri, Sep 11
Minerve, place of Cathar burning where 150 'Parfaits' were burned as heretics on the feast day of Mary Magdelaine in 1210. We experience the Dove of Minerve and the beautiful art colony at Aigne which also houses a beautiful Black Madonna.

Day 5 — Sat, Sep 12
Explore the Old City of Carcassonne, a unique example of a fortified medieval city, known for it's Cathar beliefs and history. In ancient times, 600 BC, Carcassonne was a major commercial and ceremonial center for the Celts/Druids and the Phoenicians.

Day 6 — Sun, Sep 13
Montségur, Cathar seminary and citadel of their last resistance. In May 1243, in order to appease the Pope, the King of France instigated a ten-month blockade of Montségur. A fifteen-day truce was negotiated in March 1244, at the end of which the Cathars had to choose to either renounce their faith, or perish at the stake. Two hundred and twenty Cathars chose death on the pyre.
Afternoon visit to the Angel Art Sanctuary in Alet-les-Bain.

Day 7 — Mon, Sep 14
Journey to Rennes le Chateau, former Visigoth capital of the region, to visit the Abbe Sauniere's Villa Bethania. Rennes-le-Chateau has been at the center of many sacred mysteries regarding Mary Magdalene, Templars, Cathars, Merovingians and the Holy Grail. Secrets about the Magdalene and those deeply connected to her can be found in the St. Magdalene Church and surrounding hillsides.
In the afternoon we visit Arques and, time permitting, Mount Bugarach, site of an ancient Essene community.

Day 8 — Tues, Sep 15
Experience a very beautiful Black Madonna and healing well in Limoux, then we journey through the Black Mountains to Lastours, a steep climb to Cabaret, Surdespine and Quertinheux. In the first decade of the 12th century, Cabaret had become Languedoc's foremost shrine in the pilgrimage of courtly love.
Travel to Albi, stopping on the way to view some hidden treasures.

Day 9 — Wed, Sep 16
Experience Albi, whose cathedral was built to symbolize the Roman Church's power and victory over the 'Albigensian Heresy'. We visit the beautiful church of Saint Salvi, then journey to experience two Black Madonnas and a Roman well at Notre Dame La Dreche.
Journey on to Lourdes, arriving there in the afternoon. We explore Lourdes and during the evening hours we may participate in ceremonies, including the vigil and procession.

Day 10 — Thurs, Sep 17
Continue to experience Lourdes, and then at noon we depart for Paris by express train. We arrive in Chartres by early evening, and will spend two nights in this unique town.

Day 11 — Fri, Sep 18
Explore Chartres Cathedral, with a history dating back to the 4th century. It was erected during a time of religious peace, brought about by the Emperor Constantine. Chartres is rich with mysterious sacred imagery and sacred geometry, and is said to be encoded with the secrets of the universe. It was established on a hilltop, where a sacred forest once stood. A well beneath the cathedral was sacred to the Druids and is said to be a miraculous source of healing water.
The Cathedral today is one of mystery and majesty. It is a holy place of rare architectural beauty, with its stained glass windows, crypt, and unique silhouette above the landscape. The standout feature at Chartres is the labyrinth, installed into the Cathedral floor in the year 1200. Finbarr will explain the history of the labyrinth and address the path of enlightenment that is opened to us via this 11-circuit Chartres labyrinth.

Day 12 — Sat, Sep 19
Early departure to Paris where our hotel is splendidly located close to both the Louvre and the lovely River Seine. Optional walking through the picturesque Left Bank to the historic Church of San Sulpice in search of "The Magdalene Line" and much more.
Visit the Louvre to view the paintings associated with Mary Magdalene and the Grail legends. Free time to explore this world-famous museum on your own and/or shop its gallery stores or the adjacent 'Carousel du Louvre' mall.
This evening the tour ends with a farewell dinner in celebration for all we experienced on this sacred journey.

Day 13 — Sun, Sep 20
Today you either stay on in Paris or depart for your next destination, grateful for all you experienced.

The Path of the Sacred Feminine is a Native path that brings forth some wonderful meditations and rituals that were designed for women, and specifically for connecting with the feminine aspects within each of us. On our tour we will use many of these journeys and meditations during our work with both the men and the women. All of them have been adapted so that they can be used and applicable for everyone to participate.
